Inflammation of the prostate gland is the most common disease among men over 40 years old, second only in rare cases to heart pathology.When a person is diagnosed, a natural question arises - where exactly does this disease come from?
The causes of prostatitis in men are many;it is almost impossible to name exactly what influences the development of pathology in a particular patient.However, some factors, such as poor lifestyle and alcohol abuse, increase the risk of this disease significantly.
Another feature of this disease is the effect of these causes.Some of them can trigger pathology immediately, while others affect the male body for many years and only after 40-45 years are detected by the first stage of prostatitis.
In general, all causes of prostatitis are divided depending on the form of the disease.And it can be bacterial or abacterial (independent of the presence of infection).
Abacterial causes of prostatitis
It is not only the development of infection that leads to the appearance of disease.The onset of pathology can also be triggered by:
- improper structure of the prostate gland, which leads to compression of the prostate;
- deterioration of general blood circulation in the pelvic organs;
- decreased testosterone levels;
- constant perineal injury and too intense physical activity, which leads to muscle tension;
- unstable sex life, as well as disturbed sexual relations;
- too much sexual activity, which causes the body not to recover as it should;
- the use of cigarettes, alcohol and drugs, which certainly lead to a decline in potency;
- too little daily activity, leading to congestion and constipation;
- common hypothermia, exposure to stress and nervous tension.
Clinical tests confirm that prostatitis often appears due to poor nutrition, low food quality, high content of food additives and flavor enhancers.
Bacterial prostatitis: pathological causes
The causes of bacterial nature include several factors in the development of the disease:
- immunity is too weak, which can be the result of a wrong lifestyle;
- infectious genitourinary diseases (bacteria move into the prostate from the bladder);
- venereal diseaseOften characteristic of young people who do not use barrier contraception;
- intestinal disease.It is very easy for microorganisms to get from the intestine to the prostate, passing "through it".
With age, the causes become more numerous, and the body's defenses weaken, so most often the disease develops after 40-45 years.
The main symptoms of prostatitis in men
There are 3 stages of prostatitis, the first symptoms can be seen in the early stages of the disease, and in the second stage they can no longer be ignored:
- the urination process is disturbed, it becomes more frequent, the pressure weakens, and droplet emptying syndrome is observed;
- sharp pains begin to appear in the perineum, scrotum, and lower abdomen;
- sexual dysfunction develops, and discomfort occurs during ejaculation.
Acute prostatitis, which requires an immediate response, is characterized by slightly different symptoms:
- an increase in temperature may be due to the development of a sharp inflammatory process, and fever and chills appear in parallel;
- pain radiating to the head, muscles, joints and even the lower back;
- in the perineal area there is a burning sensation, swelling, and an increase in temperature;
- the perineum is painful or unpleasant to the touch;
- during urination, a burning sensation, pain appears, the urine becomes dark, blood is also visible in it;
- when you don't want to go to the toilet, urine may leak from the urethra.
The same symptoms, but with less severity, are characteristic of chronic prostatitis.It should be checked by a doctor periodically after 40 years, because there are also pathological forms without symptoms.
How to treat prostatitis in different forms?
There are a large number of methods to treat prostatitis, and not all of them involve severe surgery.The earlier the disease is detected, the more gentle regimens are used to treat it.
Drug therapy
To treat prostatitis, antibiotics (bacterial forms) are used, as well as alpha blockers, natural substances to increase immunity and eliminate inflammation.Medicines that restore blood circulation are also used.There are many drugs, so there will always be one that is suitable for certain individual characteristics of the male body.You can't choose medicine at the pharmacy yourself;you should always rely on a doctor's prescription.
Surgical intervention
Radical treatment methods are used very rarely and are more often aimed at eliminating acute prostatitis or advanced forms of the disease:
- transurethral resection - a special instrument is inserted into the urinary tract, which removes part of the prostate gland and relieves pressure on the urethra.It is carried out without intervention in the abdominal cavity;
- A prostatectomy is an abdominal surgery to remove an enlarged prostate.
Non-surgical method
Prostatitis can be treated with other methods.Not all of them are pleasant, but the recovery period after them takes only a few days, a maximum of 2-3 weeks, and the risk of complications is minimized:
- thermal method - removal using high temperature;
- ultrasound treatment;
- cryodestruction - removal with liquid nitrogen;
- laser therapy - tumor splitting with a laser;
- magnetic method with laser reinforcement - the use of magnets and lasers to improve blood circulation and quickly restore damaged tissue;
- Balloon urethral dilation - a catheter with a balloon at the end is inserted into the urethra.
Prostate massage, herbal medicine, reflexology and other methods are also used for treatment.There are even unusual methods of influence such as eliminating diseases with live bees and leeches.And they can be quite effective!
